For easy comparisons in prices, view the Google Sheets version of my price lists. This site will have low detail and no examples, but you can view all prices at once to budget easier.

CommissionA paid digital product or image.
CommissionerSomeone who has paid an artist to draw or make a something.
CommissioneeAn artist who has been paid to make something.
WIPWork in progress / a draft
YCHYour Character Here / a pre-made pose often purchased by multiple commissioners.
Dynamic PoseAn energetic or perspective-warped pose given to a character.
Dynamic LightingA dramatic light source changing the overall tone of the image.
ScenicA type of commission that has the focus on the character surrounded by a detailed background, and often interacting with the foreground.
BackgroundAll the objects or scenery shown to be behind the subject of the image.
ForegroundAll the objects or scenery shown to be in front of the subject of the image.
Arbitrary colorA choice of color in an artwork that has no basis in the realistic appearance of the object depicted. Purple cows, orange rocks, yellow sky etc.
B/WBlack / White
CompositionThe way the image is layed out on the canvas.
ThumbnailA small sketch to show composition before the piece is started.
Brush ToolA paint-like tool used in digital art.
Pencil ToolA high-texture tool used in digital art.
ChiaroscuroThe treatment of contrast between light and dark in a drawing to show high drama.
Clip artA small, low detailed image.
CMYKCyan, Magenta, Yellow, Key. Referring to how the colours will look when printed out on physical paper.
Colour EmotionThe way certain colours are used in a piece to evoke emotion in it's viewers.
ComplimentaryColours opposite eachother on the colour wheel.
CompositionThe organisation and arrangement of the content displayed within the canvas.
ContentThe subjects or objects shown within the piece.
ContextThe sensory, psychological and emotional properties showing the aesthetic value.
ContrastThe difference between two things; Light/Dark, Inside/Outside, Colours, Warm/Cool, etc.
CopyrightThe legal right granted to creator, publisher or distributer based on an agreement between the owner and commissioner.
Copyright OwnerThe owner of the intellectual property. Usually, this means the artist.
Copyright RightsRights given to a commissioner or buyer by the copyright owner.
CraftsmanshipThe quality of work produced by the artist.
CritiqueReview / Statement / Criticism
CuratorA person in charge of a creative project
MAPMulti-Animator-Project. A large-scale animation project inclusive of multiple artists.
CurvilinearA piece consisting of a prominant curved line or lines, common in gothic art.
Deadline / Due DateA date or time the project / piece has to be 100% done by.
DesignA plan for a project.
Reference SheetAn image clearly showing all details relating to a character or item design.
Digital ArtArt produced and drawn on any electronic device, given to the commissioner digitally.
Digital PrintA hard-copy version of the digital product.
DPIDots Per Inch / the resolution information given to printers or scanners.
DraftAn unfinished copy of the product, given to the client to discuss changes before the final version.
Fair UseUse of a copyrighted product for uses in: criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship or research.
Focal PointThe most prominant part of the composition.
ForeshorteningA way to depict an object or character to show drastic depth. That which is closer is larger. See Perspective.
PerspectiveThe angle and depth given to the composition.
FormThe structure of the content.
FreehandDrawn by hand without the use of tracing or any mechanical tools (protractor, compass, ruler, etc.)
GeometricAn adjective given to describe a very mathematically accurate shape, used in the background, foreground, or within the design.
GradientA blended out transition between colours.
Graphic DesignThe digital design of logos, letterheads, packaging, ads, posters, book covers, signs, web pages, etc. Used mostly in commercial art.
Commercial ArtArt commissioned for the purpose of selling. e.g. merchandise or ads.
HighlightThe area of the object that recieves the most light.
HueColour Name - Blue, Purple, Red, Green, etc.
VaueThe darkness or lightness of the colour.
SaturationThe amount of colour added.
.JPEG / .PNG / .PPT / .PSDThe file format
Landscape/PortraitThe orientation of the page
Landscape (2)Scenery showing a large amount of land.
Portrait (2)A drawing of a character or person showing the face/shoulders.
MediumThe surface the art is produced on.
MonochromaticThe use of only one, or very few colours within a piece.
ChromaticStrikingly different colours within a piece.
Negative SpaceThe absence of colour within an image to define a shape.
NoiseA pixelated texture applied overtop of an image. Often used to replicate the look of old media.
Opacity / OpaqueThe amount of transparency given to an image.
Transparent PNGA PNG file in a non-geometric shape, filled with transparent pixels.
OCOriginal Character / Original Content
PolyptychA multi-panel piece of art.
RasteriseThe data structure of the images in each layer.
RenderingThe process of defining details in an almost complete piece.
Rendering (2)The process of taking a 2D design and recreating it in 3D software.
ResolutionThe quality of the pixels contained within the image.
Canvas SizeThe amount of pixels in a single image.
Rule of ThirdsA composition type enforcing the importance of dividing the canvas into three or nine equal parts.
ScaleSize
Self-PortraitAn image or characature an artist creates in their own likeness.
StipplingA shading technique using a large amount of dots.
Vanishing PointA point in perspective along the horizon line that all objects draw into to create dramatic depth.
