I offer commissions in different styles / formats! The buttons below will break down my prices in an easy-to-read commission sheet.
For easy comparisons in prices, view the Google Sheets version of my price lists. This site will have low detail and no examples, but you can view all prices at once to budget easier.

Term / Phrase | Definition |
---|---|
Commission | A paid digital product or image. |
Commissioner | Someone who has paid an artist to draw or make a something. |
Commissionee | An artist who has been paid to make something. |
WIP | Work in progress / a draft |
YCH | Your Character Here / a pre-made pose often purchased by multiple commissioners. |
Dynamic Pose | An energetic or perspective-warped pose given to a character. |
Dynamic Lighting | A dramatic light source changing the overall tone of the image. |
Scenic | A type of commission that has the focus on the character surrounded by a detailed background, and often interacting with the foreground. |
Background | All the objects or scenery shown to be behind the subject of the image. |
Foreground | All the objects or scenery shown to be in front of the subject of the image. |
Arbitrary color | A choice of color in an artwork that has no basis in the realistic appearance of the object depicted. Purple cows, orange rocks, yellow sky etc. |
B/W | Black / White |
Composition | The way the image is layed out on the canvas. |
Thumbnail | A small sketch to show composition before the piece is started. |
Brush Tool | A paint-like tool used in digital art. |
Pencil Tool | A high-texture tool used in digital art. |
Chiaroscuro | The treatment of contrast between light and dark in a drawing to show high drama. |
Clip art | A small, low detailed image. |
CMYK | Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Key. Referring to how the colours will look when printed out on physical paper. |
Colour Emotion | The way certain colours are used in a piece to evoke emotion in it's viewers. |
Complimentary | Colours opposite eachother on the colour wheel. |
Composition | The organisation and arrangement of the content displayed within the canvas. |
Content | The subjects or objects shown within the piece. |
Context | The sensory, psychological and emotional properties showing the aesthetic value. |
Contrast | The difference between two things; Light/Dark, Inside/Outside, Colours, Warm/Cool, etc. |
Copyright | The legal right granted to creator, publisher or distributer based on an agreement between the owner and commissioner. |
Copyright Owner | The owner of the intellectual property. Usually, this means the artist. |
Copyright Rights | Rights given to a commissioner or buyer by the copyright owner. |
Craftsmanship | The quality of work produced by the artist. |
Critique | Review / Statement / Criticism |
Curator | A person in charge of a creative project |
MAP | Multi-Animator-Project. A large-scale animation project inclusive of multiple artists. |
Curvilinear | A piece consisting of a prominant curved line or lines, common in gothic art. |
Deadline / Due Date | A date or time the project / piece has to be 100% done by. |
Design | A plan for a project. |
Reference Sheet | An image clearly showing all details relating to a character or item design. |
Digital Art | Art produced and drawn on any electronic device, given to the commissioner digitally. |
Digital Print | A hard-copy version of the digital product. |
DPI | Dots Per Inch / the resolution information given to printers or scanners. |
Draft | An unfinished copy of the product, given to the client to discuss changes before the final version. |
Fair Use | Use of a copyrighted product for uses in: criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship or research. |
Focal Point | The most prominant part of the composition. |
Foreshortening | A way to depict an object or character to show drastic depth. That which is closer is larger. See Perspective. |
Perspective | The angle and depth given to the composition. |
Form | The structure of the content. |
Freehand | Drawn by hand without the use of tracing or any mechanical tools (protractor, compass, ruler, etc.) |
Geometric | An adjective given to describe a very mathematically accurate shape, used in the background, foreground, or within the design. |
Gradient | A blended out transition between colours. |
Graphic Design | The digital design of logos, letterheads, packaging, ads, posters, book covers, signs, web pages, etc. Used mostly in commercial art. |
Commercial Art | Art commissioned for the purpose of selling. e.g. merchandise or ads. |
Highlight | The area of the object that recieves the most light. |
Hue | Colour Name - Blue, Purple, Red, Green, etc. |
Vaue | The darkness or lightness of the colour. |
Saturation | The amount of colour added. |
.JPEG / .PNG / .PPT / .PSD | The file format |
Landscape/Portrait | The orientation of the page |
Landscape (2) | Scenery showing a large amount of land. |
Portrait (2) | A drawing of a character or person showing the face/shoulders. |
Medium | The surface the art is produced on. |
Monochromatic | The use of only one, or very few colours within a piece. |
Chromatic | Strikingly different colours within a piece. |
Negative Space | The absence of colour within an image to define a shape. |
Noise | A pixelated texture applied overtop of an image. Often used to replicate the look of old media. |
Opacity / Opaque | The amount of transparency given to an image. |
Transparent PNG | A PNG file in a non-geometric shape, filled with transparent pixels. |

Polyptych | A multi-panel piece of art. |
Rasterise | The data structure of the images in each layer. |
Rendering | The process of defining details in an almost complete piece. |
Rendering (2) | The process of taking a 2D design and recreating it in 3D software. |
Resolution | The quality of the pixels contained within the image. |
Canvas Size | The amount of pixels in a single image. |
Rule of Thirds | A composition type enforcing the importance of dividing the canvas into three or nine equal parts. |

Self-Portrait | An image or characature an artist creates in their own likeness. |
Stippling | A shading technique using a large amount of dots. |
Vanishing Point | A point in perspective along the horizon line that all objects draw into to create dramatic depth. |
